14-year-old girl died during a house fire and two other people died in a collision

A girl believed to be 14-years-old died during a house fire late last night.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasinf said ER24 paramedics and other services were alerted to a fire at a house in Monument Heights in Kimberly and on arrival found the house well alight.

She said a woman and two children had made it out of the house safely. Fire and rescue extinguished the fire.

Paramedics found a girl in one of the corridors of the house. Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for her.

She was declared dead. The exact cause of the incident is unknown, however authorities were on scene for further investigations.

Meanwhile, two people died and four others sustained minor to moderate injuries in a collision between a bike and an SUV just outside Newcastle on Allen Road before the N11 Bridge.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said when ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene, they found a man and a woman lying next to the bike and SUV.

She said both of them who were riding on the bike were assessed. They were found to have sustained multiple injuries.

“Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for them, they were declared dead”

She added that the driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries and the passengers in the vehicle sustained moderate injuries.

They were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.


The exact cause of the collision is unknown. Authorities were on scene for further investigations, Bodasing concluded.
