Elderly woman killed in collision

An elderly woman died and eight other people were injured when the bakkie they were in rolled on the R501 about 20km from Potchefstroom late last night.

It is understood the driver lost control of the vehicle.

ER24 Spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said the vehicle rolled and landed in the veld.

Bodasing said when ER24 paramedics and other services arrived arrived on scene they found people scattered across the area.

Bodasing said an elderly woman was assessed.

Bodasing said she sustained multiple injuries. Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for her. She was declared dead.

Bodasing said other patients were assessed. Four children between the ages of six and 14 sustained minor injuries.

Bodasing said all other patients sustained minor to moderate injuries.They were treated. They were transported to local hospitals.

“Authorities were on scene for further investigations” Bodasing added.
