451 suspects arrested for various crimes in Nyanga

A total of 451 suspects were arrested for various crimes in Nyanga over the past week.

The crimes include amongst others possession of illegal drugs, murder and illegal liquor outlets.

In a statement Captain FC van Wyk said police are also engaging with their neighbourhood watches and also street and court committees are actively involved in the continuous fight against crime. 

Van Wyk said police in Nyanga Cluster confiscated 17 firearms and arrested 14 suspects for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

He added that the suspects subsequently appeared in Magistrates’ Courts on charges relating to the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

A total of 35 Suspects were arrested on warrants of arrest on various crimes during tracing operations.

“More suspects also made their appearance in a Magistrate Court after they were arrested on charges relating to assault, robbery, fraud, intimidation, drunk driving, and possession of suspected stolen property, housebreaking and theft FC van Wyk added.
