12 Policemen appear in the Bellville Magistrates Court on kidnapping and murder charges

12 Policemen appeared in the Bellville Magistrates Court today.

The men face multiple charges ranging from murder, attempted murder, theft, kidnapping, common assault, assault to commit grievous bodily harm and defeating the ends of justice.

It is alleged that the policemen kidnapped and murdered 24-year-old Sidwell Mkwambi and assaulted and tortured his friends Siyabulela Njova and Mthuthuzeli Rantaoleng as well as other witnesses.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate’s Moses Dlamini said the matter has been transferred to the High Court so the policemen will appear in court again.
