Accident claims two SAPS members in Kraaifontein

Two members of the South African Police Service have died after they were involved in an accident this morning in Botfontein Road, next to the fence of the Kraaifontein SAPS.

Police spokesperson Captain Gerhard Niemand on the scene the Kraaifontein SAPS members found a white Volkswagen Golf and a Toyota Landcruiser that collided into each other.

“The occupants of the Golf was Killed with impact and the occupants of the Landcruiser had minor injuries.

“After an investigation, the Detectives of the Kraaifontein SAPS found out that the occupants of the Golf, a state vehicle, are employees of the South African Police Service, stationed at Mitchells Plain,” said Niemand.


Earlier ER24 spokesperson Tristan Wadeley said the driver of the Land Cruiser sustained minor injuries but declined being transported to hospital.

It is alleged that one of the vehicles was on the wrong side of the road when the incident occurred

Captain Niemand the Kraaifontein Detectives are busy to investigate to what exactly happened.

They called in the Road Crime - Crash Scene Investigator, to help reconstruct and determine the cause of the accident.
A culpable homicide case was opened added Niemand.

The Community is asked to come forward with any information that can help with the investigation, if they did see the accident occur.
