The 3-year-old boy from Phillipi who was allegedly kidnapped last Friday has been found unharmed. It is believed Gugulethu police who were on their routine patrols came across an old woman walking with a child.

Police spokesperson Captain Elliot Sinyangana says when the woman was stopped by police and questioned she was not able to tell them what she was doing with a small child at three in the morning on a Saturday.

“They (police) phoned the social worker and took the boy to the social worker and a place of safety and then the lady was assisted to the place where she stays,” says Sinyangana.

Thapelo Sifuba has been kept in emergency foster care until Tuesday when he was reunited with his mother.

“The investigations are still continuins to determine everything around the lady and her taking the boy,” says Sinyangana.

Sinyangana says the Investigating Officer is going to visit the woman at the house where the police officers dropped her to look at the case further.
